Keyboard man on subway
I’ve seen this fellow many times on the subway. He’s got a sort of old school rap and a gigantic keyboard to go along with it.
He hasn’t really updated his musical repository since I first saw him 4 or 5 years ago. I think he ought to change up his song a bit, maybe release a new album.
His most notable lyric was:
I do not steal / I do not rob / I wish like I had your job… your job… your job
Now I don’t want to be presumptuous but I’m not so sure he’s really thought through these requests. I mean, if my job was to play 80s rap songs on a Casio keyboard, that’s cool. But I doubt he’d want your job if you are a window washer - perhaps he has a fear of heights. Or a teacher - maybe he doesn’t like kids. But it’s more likely that a lot of the people he’s pointing to actually don’t have jobs, since NYC has an unemployment rate at a whopping 10.2%. I’m not so convinced he truly wants a job, though I’m happy to look at his resume. I’m sure he could get an unpaid internship like the rest of the college grads.
