Ah, the mariachi bands in the subway. I have mixed feelings about these guys. On the one hand, I am particularly annoyed by invasive subway car musicians, regardless what they play. I don’t like being stuck in a large elevator with music that has no volume control.
On the other hand, of all subway musicians, I’d have to say the mariachis, though mostly unoriginal (can you tell any of the bands apart from each other? Are there many bands or just one? I have no idea), they are among the most talented all around. Their voices are great, the instruments are varied and make real music (unlike banging on conga drums or a keyboard with a cheesy beat - will post that guy soon). They are friendly and they don’t seem to outstay their welcome.
Still, it gets pretty annoying after a while. And sorry, but if no one is also grinding avocados to make fresh guacamole in one of those stone bowls in front of me, then this music is not really worth it.
