If You See Something, Say Something!
I am riding the M11 uptown along Amsterdam. I got on at 86th st. There are two disabled people on board. The thing that pisses me off is that if there were another disabled person waiting in this freezing cold, they would be fucked and unable to board. The issue here is that the MTA should be providing a separate service for the elderly, disabled and parents with young children - ie all people who need mass transit but shouldn’t be waiting endlessly for it and subject to such inconveniences. Furthermore the rest of the riders shouldn’t be inconvenienced either (and I don’t mean that in a harsh way). But often times I will get on a bus and if I see that they are about to de-board a wheelchair I will just leave and find a faster route. Again I fault the MTA for not organizing a more effecient system that allows the elderly and disabled to get around as easily as the young and able bodied.
